Fitness Training Session 3: The weakest link
Today was the third of twelve personal training sessions with Little Miss Sunshine. We focused on lower body and core exercises. The recurring theme throughout these initial sessions is that my hamstrings are my weakest link.
As per usual, I stretched before our session. After stretching, I was taken to an area that my fairest taskmaster had arranged for me, a customized torture chamber of sorts. Before I get into the nitty-gritty details, I found out today that Little Miss Sunshine was a fitness trainer for the Washington D.C. police department. Talk about some serious flippin’ cred. I’m impressed.
Little Miss Sunshine had me focus on exercises that concentrated on my core, hamstrings, as well as balance for the most part. The most difficult, and possibly humiliating part of today’s session was having to squat on to a platform, then spring back up only using my legs. Being a complete doofus is becoming a requirement for these sessions. At one point, unbeknownst to my personal fitness guru that I was looking in the general direction of a very attractive blonde, I was told, “Watch the butt.” I responded, “Whose?”. “Yours!” It was probably good advice since I probably wasn’t exactly impressing the object of my lust with my physical prowess, or lack thereof. But I digress…
As with every session thus far, my ability to perform the prescribed exercises improved with subsequent attempts. I was drenched with sweat as we returned to stretching area. I am pretty sure that Little Miss Sunshine assigned me to my favorite machine as a reward for my pathetic, but valiant efforts today.
Our time together concluded with a demonstration of using MyLT to record my daily nutritional consumption, plus a collection of healthy recipes. I should note that Little Miss Sunshine has registered on my blog and could give me a public smackdown at any given time. I have given her free reign to speak her mind without censorship or repercussion.
