Unemployment remains unchanged in December.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today that the unemployment rate remained unchanged at 10.0% in December. Altogether 85,000 jobs were lost last month, up from 11,000 jobs lost in November.
Let’s breakdown the numbers:
- The unemployment rate for high school drop outs was 15.3%.
- 5.0% of college graduates were unemployed.
- The jobless rate for high school graduates was 10.5%.
- 10.2% of men 20 and over were unemployed.
- Women 20 and over had an unemployment rate of 8.2%.
- 27.1% of 16 to 19 year olds were unemployed.
- Jobless rate amongst whites was 9.0%, down from 9.3% in November.
- 16.2% of blacks were jobless, up from 15.6% in November.
The unemployment rate of college graduates increased in December, up from 4.9%. However, college graduates still enjoyed the lowest unemployment rate of the listed groups.
