Gym Etiquette

I don’t know about you, but I think that society is becoming more rude. One of the places I commonly see this is at the gym. I have been going to the gym regularly for over 20 years. In that time, I have seen a steady decline in courtesy there. It’s possible that some people are being discourteous without even knowing it.
If you are one of these people, here are some tips:
- Wear appropriate gym attire. Do not wear street clothes or anything that will reveal your private parts as you exercise.
- Carry a towel and wipe your sweat off the equipment after use.
- Do not use more than one piece of equipment at a time.
- No loud grunting.
- Do not put your belongings on a piece of equipment that you are not actively using.
- Do not use your cell phone on the exercise floor.
- Do not hog the equipment. Let other people work in.
- While exercising, do not block equipment that you are not using, or the water fountain.
- Do not spread all your belongings on the bench in the locker room. Share the bench.
- If you are filling a water bottle from the water fountain, allow people who need a quick sip of water to cut in.
- Please re-rack weights and other equipment.
- In the locker room, exercise modesty. Wrap a towel around yourself when exiting the shower.
Please share your courtesy tips by adding a comment. Thanks!
