Boise State Broncos unable to find an opponent, but I have a suggestion

November 7, 2009 · Posted in Commentary

According to a story published today by Yahoo! Sports, Boise State athletic director Gene Bleymaier is unable to find a major opponent to play his Broncos, including a team in either the SEC or Big Ten.  ESPN is trying to broker a deal, but no luck so far.  The Boise State Broncos are currently 9-0 this season.

I have a suggestion.  I am going to be thinking out of the box for this idea, so please bear with me.  How about putting the Boise State Broncos up against a mediocre NFL team?  Given that the Detroit Lions have only won one game in the last two seasons, it would certainly be an interesting match up.  If the Boise State Broncos were to defeat the Detroit Lions it would be a huge coup for Gene Bleymaier.  The game would certainly have a large media audience and could make some Broncos players household names.  It could also humiliate the Detroit Lions if they lost or did not have a runaway win.

What do you think?
