ISAF is intent on destroying troop morale in Afghanistan
In a myopic move that is certain to destroy troop morale, the ISAF announced on its blog that it would shut down some amenities in the Morale[sic], Welfare and Recreation (MWR) facilities at the Bagram and Kandahar bases in Afghanistan. Among the casualties are Orange Julius, Burger King, Pizza Hut, Dairy Queen, and Military Car Sales. The ISAF will also reduce the volume of canned and bottled goods coming into the bases, first-run movies, as well as non-USO entertainment shows.
Who is the ISAF? It’s the NATO led security force in Afghanistan under the command of General McChrystal. These are the men and women on the frontline on the “war on terrorism”. The justification for closing these much needed morale boosters is to “free up much-needed storage facilities at both Bagram and Kandahar, space which is critical as 30,000 additional American and up to 7,000 international troops flow into Afghanistan over the next several months.”. Gimme a break!
Are you as outraged as I am? ISAF was nice enough to provide contact information. Please let them know how infuriated you are at their decision to close these much needed amenities.
