Vinturi Essential Wine Aerator

October 28, 2009 · Posted in Product Reviews

I recently purchased the Vinturi Essential Wine Aerator based on a friend’s passing mention on her Facebook page, plus all the glowing reviews on Amazon.

After I received the Vinturi Essential Wine Aerator, a friend and I conducted a blind taste test using a Cabernet Sauvignion that we had never tried before. We both agreed that the wine put through the Vinturi Essential Wine Aerator tasted better.   This item is very attractive, quality built, as well as easy to clean.  The price of the Vinturi Essential Wine Aerator is very reasonable, especially given the fact that it will make less expensive wine taste better.

There’s only one downside to the Vinturi Essential Wine Aerator. There tends to be some drippage after use that needs to be cleaned up afterwards. However, do not let this stop you from purchasing this device. My friend and I plan on giving some Vinturi Essential Wine Aerators away as Christmas gifts.

I would urge you to do a blind taste test on a wine that you have never tried after you receive your Vinturi Essential Wine Aerator. You will be impressed.

I purchased the Vinturi wine aerator earlier this year. Initially I was concerned about the cracks in the plastic in the body of the aerator but have since found out that these occur in the manufacturing of the aerator, for some reason. I think the Vinturi is a very good aerator and helps to improve the aroma and flavors, especially in young reds, however I’m not to keen on the gurgling it makes, and also having to hover it over your glass while pouring.

My wife and I recently went to a wine tasting evening, where another wine aerator was highly praised – in not only performing as well, if not better than the Vinturi in blind tastings, but that it was more attractive and versatile and really brought a sense of occasion to enjoying a bottle of wine – all qualities that really sold it to me.

It’s called the WineWeaver (www.wineweaver.com) and it somes in four colors which you can use with glasses and decanters. The aeration chamber is moveable to suit the exit of the wine to the shape of your glass, plus you are able to sit it directly on top of your glass because it weighs next to nothing. I have to say that I bought one of these from Amazon.co.uk (as the postage to the States was free on there, and I like a bargain), and I have to say that it really has proved to be a very good buy – making a less expensive bottle taste like a more expensive one, softening the tannins, and really bringing out the fruit in the wine.

And with regards to cleaning, we just put ours in the dishwasher and it comes out gleaming like new.

Having read that you were also impressed with the Vinturi like I was, from one wine-lover to another, I can whole-heartedly recommend the WineWeaver aerator for functionality, performance and great design!
