Sweet bird, that shunn'st the noise of folly,
Most musical, most melancholy!

Roxie does not sit still very often.

This was a rare moment when Roxie was actually sitting still.  Roxie was by far the most energetic bird that we have had, and she had the calorie intake that went along with it.  Roxie died 2 days after her eighth birthday. She is missed.

Roxie used her feet to pick up and eat her food just like a large parrot does.  I would also say that Roxie was probably our smartest bird.  It took no time at all to potty train her.

Roxie was normally pretty shy around strangers.  I really think that she looked uncomfortable in the picture on the right.  I found that she tended to prefer men over women.

Kakarikis tend to be very quiet birds, so they are excellent for apartment dwellers.  They don't have the ability to scream like other  parrots.  They must have a fairly large cage since they tend to be very energetic and acrobatic.  Kakarikis should have plenty of toys to keep them entertained.
